Danish bass player Ida Kristine Nielsen, born in 1975 and also recognized by the names Bass Ida, Bassida, and Ida Funkhouser, is a composer and vocalist. Nielsen began her journey with the bass at the age of 16. From 1993 to 1998, she attended the Royal Danish Academy of Music, where she completed her diploma focusing on electric bass as her principal instrument. She has been associated with various musical groups including Belgian band Zap Mama, Danish pop rock ensemble Michael Learns to Rock, American funk outfit The New Power Generation, and funk rock group 3rdeyegirl (2012–present). The latter two served as backing bands for Prince. In 2008, she launched her debut solo album titled Marmelade. In 2010, Nielsen commenced her collaboration with Prince and joined The New Power Generation as both a singer and bassist until his passing in 2016.

In 2014, Nielsen unveiled her second album Sometimes a Girl Needs Sugar Too, followed by her third album TurnItUp in 2016 as a tribute to Prince.

Her initial single "SHOWMEWHATUGOT" from "TurnItUp" was selected by Prince to be featured as TIDAL's "Purple pick of the week" upon its release.
