Jordin Brianna Sparks (born December 22, 1989) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress who gained fame in 2007 by winning the sixth season of American Idol at age 17, becoming the youngest winner in the show's history. Her self-titled debut album was certified platinum and sold over two million copies worldwide, featuring the top-ten Billboard Hot 100 singles "Tattoo" and "No Air," the latter selling over three million digital copies in the U.S. and earning her a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
Sparks' second album, Battlefield (2009), debuted at number 7 on the Billboard 200, with its lead single reaching number 10 on the Hot 100. She became the only American Idol contestant with her first five singles in the top 20. Sparks has received several awards, including an NAACP Image Award, BET Award, American Music Award, People's Choice Award, and two Teen Choice Awards. In 2009, Billboard ranked her the 91st Artist of the 2000s, and in 2012, VH1 placed her at number 92 on the "100 Greatest Women in Music" list. By 2012, she had sold 1.3 million albums and 10.2 million singles in the U.S.
After Battlefield, Sparks expanded into acting, Broadway, and perfume design. She appeared on television series including The Suite Life on Deck (2009) and Big Time Rush (2010), made her Broadway debut as Nina Rosario in In The Heights (2010), and her film debut in Sparkle (2012). She released three perfumes: Because of You... (2010), Fascinate (2012), and Ambition (2012). Following a five-year solo music hiatus, Sparks released the mixtape #ByeFelicia (2014) under a new recording deal with Louder than Life/Red Associated Labels and Sony Music Entertainment. Her third studio album, Right Here Right Now, was released in August 2015.
