American actress Lea Michele Sarfati (born August 29, 1986) is also a singer and author. She is recognized for her portrayal of Rachel Berry on the Fox musical comedy series Glee (2009–15). Michele's work was well-received, leading to an Emmy Award nomination along with two Golden Globe Award nominations, as well as accolades including a Satellite Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and three consecutive People's Choice Awards. Since 2015, she has played Hester Ulrich in the horror-comedy series Scream Queens on Fox.

Michele initiated her career in acting at a young age on Broadway in productions like Les Misérables, Ragtime, and Fiddler on the Roof. In 2006, she created the role of Wendla Bergmann in the rock musical Spring Awakening on Broadway. Her film career began in 2011 with a lead role in the romantic comedy New Year's Eve. In 2014, she lent her voice to Dorothy Gale for the animated feature Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return.

In 2012, Michele joined Columbia Records to pursue music professionally. Her debut single "Cannonball" was released on December 10, 2013. Her first album Louder launched on March 4, 2014 and debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 chart. On May 20, 2014, she published her first book Brunette Ambition which made it onto The New York Times Best Seller list. A subsequent book titled You First: Journal Your Way To Your Best Life followed on September 22, 2015.
