Elite is a Spanish thriller teen drama television series created for Netflix by Carlos Montero and Darío Madrona. The series is set in Las Encinas, a fictional elite secondary school, and follows the relationships between three working-class students enrolled through a scholarship program and their wealthy classmates. It features an ensemble cast, many of whom have appeared in other Netflix productions from Spain and Latin America.
The show explores themes typical of teen dramas alongside progressive issues and diverse sexual themes. It uses a flash-forward narrative with a mystery element, with each season unfolding across two timelines. The first season of eight episodes was released on 5 October 2018 and received positive reviews. The series was renewed for subsequent seasons: the second season was released on 6 September 2019, the third on 13 March 2020, the fourth on 18 June 2021, and the fifth season was scheduled for 2022.
