American actress Penelope Ann Miller (originally named Penelope Andrea Miller; born January 13, 1964), also known as Penelope Miller, initiated her professional work on Broadway in the original 1985 staging of Biloxi Blues and later received a nomination for a Tony Award for her performance in the 1989 revival of Our Town. She has appeared in numerous significant Hollywood films, especially during the late 1980s and early 1990s, such as Adventures in Babysitting (1987), Biloxi Blues (1988), Big Top Pee-wee (1988), The Freshman (1990), Awakenings (1990), Kindergarten Cop (1990), Other People's Money (1991), Year of the Comet (1992), Chaplin (1992), and Carlito's Way (1993). For her role in Carlito's Way, she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award. In addition to her film work, she returned to Broadway with the original stage production of On the Waterfront in 1995.
