Thalia in Greek mythology refers to several figures: the Muse of comedy and entertainment, one of the three Charites (Graces), one of the 50 Nereids (sea nymph daughters of Nereus), the Sicilian lover of Zeus also known as Aitne or Aitna, a Maenad, and an Oceanid.
Thalia also refers to a female given name, the asteroid (23) Thalia, a genus of plants in the arrowroot family, a genus of animals in the Salpidae family, a magazine edited by Friedrich Schiller from 1787 to 1791, a writing by Arius defending his position at the First Council of Nicaea, a bookstore chain, and an Austrian film production company founded in 1980. Additionally, Thalia names ships from 1886 and 1909, a vehicle version of the Renault Clio, cinemas in Dresden, Berlin, Potsdam, and Augsburg, as well as theaters in multiple cities including Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna, and others. Thalía refers to a Mexican Latin pop singer and actress.
