Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson (born 29 October 1987), known as Tove Lo, is a Swedish singer and songwriter from Djursholm, near Stockholm. She graduated from Rytmus Musikergymnasiet and formed the rock band Tremblebee in 2006. After the band disbanded, she signed a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music in 2011 and worked with producers including Alexander Kronlund, Max Martin, and Xenomania. In 2014, she joined Martin's songwriting collective Wolf Cousins and signed recording contracts with Island and Polydor.
Lo gained fame with her debut album Queen of the Clouds, which reached number 14 on the U.S. Billboard 200 in October 2014. The album included the hit single "Habits (Stay High)," peaking at number three on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. She has co-written songs for artists such as Hilary Duff and Ellie Goulding, earning a Grammy nomination for Goulding's "Love Me like You Do." Lo has collaborated with Coldplay, Flume, Alesso, Nick Jonas, and others. Rolling Stone called her "Sweden's darkest pop export," noting her raw, grunge-influenced pop style and autobiographical lyrics.
