Alesha Dixon (born 7 October 1978) is a British singer, dancer, rapper, model, and television presenter from Welwyn Garden City, England. She gained fame as a member of the all-female R&B/garage trio Mis-Teeq, which disbanded in 2005. Dixon pursued a solo music career, signing with Polydor Records and beginning to record her debut album, Fired Up, in 2006. However, after poor sales of her first two singles, she was dropped from the label.
In 2007, Dixon won Strictly Come Dancing, which boosted her television profile and led to a comeback. She signed with Asylum Records and released her second album, The Alesha Show, in 2008. The album achieved platinum certification in the UK and included four singles, such as "The Boy Does Nothing" and "Breathe Slow," the latter earning her a Brit Award nomination. Dixon became a judge on Strictly Come Dancing's seventh series in 2009, replacing Arlene Phillips. She continued as a judge for the eighth and ninth series and released her third album, The Entertainer, in 2010. In January 2012, she left Strictly Come Dancing to join Britain's Got Talent as a judge.
