American singer-songwriter Anastacia Lyn Newkirk (born September 17, 1968) is a producer and former dancer. She is recognized for her pop music contributions during the early 2000s, which significantly influenced audiences in Europe and Oceania. Her debut albums Not That Kind (2000) and Freak of Nature (2001) were launched in rapid succession, achieving considerable success. Following the worldwide hit "I'm Outta Love," Anastacia was named 'World's Best-Selling New Female Pop Artist' in 2001. Her commercial success continued with international singles like "Paid My Dues," "One Day In Your Life," and the official anthem of the 2002 FIFA World Cup, "Boom." After overcoming cancer, she returned to music with the album Anastacia in 2004, shifting towards a pop-rock sound. The album topped charts in 11 countries and became Europe's second best-selling album that year. Its lead single "Left Outside Alone" held the number one position on the European Billboard chart for 15 weeks and facilitated her most successful European tour as a solo artist that same year. In 2005, she released a multi-platinum compilation titled Pieces of a Dream, featuring the chart-topping duet with Eros Ramazzotti, "I Belong to You (Il Ritmo della Passione)." Anastacia positioned herself among the top-selling female pop artists globally during the 2000s before taking a break at the end of 2006. In 2014, Anastacia made her return with her sixth studio project Resurrection, which entered the top ten across Italian, Netherlands, Swiss, German, and UK charts. Her Ultimate Collection followed in 2015 and also reached within the top ten of UK charts, marking her sixth top-ten album in Britain.

Anastacia is noted for her strong mezzo-soprano vocal range combined with her height of just 5 feet 2 inches (157 cm), earning her recognition as "the little lady with the big voice." She is also known for wearing distinctive glasses; although she had corrective lasik surgery in August 2005, she often still opts to wear them.

Throughout her life journey, Anastacia has faced several health challenges including being diagnosed with Crohn's disease at age thirteen; breast cancer at thirty-four; and supraventricular tachycardia at thirty-nine years old. In October of 2013—coinciding with Breast Cancer Awareness Month—she publicly shared that she underwent a double mastectomy after receiving a second breast cancer diagnosis.

For her long-standing charitable work promoting breast cancer awareness over many years, Anastacia received recognition as only the second woman awarded the Humanitarian Award at GQ Men of The Year Awards in November of 2013.
