Anna Katharina Seidel (1938 – September 29, 1991) was a German Sinologist recognized as an authority on Taoism. She spent 22 years at the Institut du Hobogirin of the Ecole Francaise d’Extreme-Orient in Kyoto.
During her time there, Seidel became a central figure for Western scholars of East Asian studies conducting research in Kyoto.
