Cheryl Ann Fernandez-Versini (née Tweedy; born 30 June 1983) is an English singer, dancer, and television personality. She rose to fame in late 2002 as a member of the girl group Girls Aloud on ITV's Popstars: The Rivals and remained with the group until their split in 2013. Girls Aloud had twenty consecutive top ten singles in the UK, including four number ones, six platinum albums with two reaching number one, and received five Brit Award nominations between 2005 and 2010, winning once.
Cheryl began a solo career in April 2009, releasing her first album, 3 Words, in October. The album produced three successful singles, including "Fight for This Love," which was the best-selling UK single of the year and debuted at number one. Her second album, Messy Little Raindrops (2010), featured the number one single "Promise This." Her third album, A Million Lights, was released on 18 June 2012, with the lead single "Call My Name" reaching number one. In 2014, she released Only Human, which included three singles, two of which, "Crazy Stupid Love" and "I Don't Care," reached number one, making her the first British female artist with five UK number one singles.
Cheryl has been recognized as a style icon and has appeared on the covers of British Vogue, Elle, and Harper's Bazaar. She became a L'Oréal cosmetic company ambassador in 2009. She was married to England footballer Ashley Cole from July 2006 until their divorce in September 2010. Cheryl served as a judge on the UK version of The X Factor starting in 2008, mentoring two winners, Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry. In 2011, she left the UK show to judge the American version but departed during auditions amid rumors of being sacked. Her net worth was estimated at £20 million in October 2014. She returned as a judge on the UK X Factor for its eleventh series in 2014 on a £1.5 million contract but confirmed in April 2016 that she would not return for the thirteenth series.
