Garbiñe Muguruza Blanco (born 8 October 1993) is a Spanish-Venezuelan professional tennis player. Since turning professional in 2012, she has won nine singles titles, including the 2016 French Open and the 2017 Wimbledon Championships. She has reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 1 and a highest WTA doubles ranking of 10.
Muguruza gained recognition in 2014 after reaching the fourth round of the Australian Open and defeating former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki. At the 2014 French Open, she beat then-world No. 1 Serena Williams in the second round. In 2015, she reached her first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon, losing to Serena Williams, and won the China Open. She also qualified for her first WTA Finals in singles, reaching the semifinals. In doubles, Muguruza has won five titles, was runner-up at the 2015 WTA Finals, and reached the 2014 French Open semifinals with Carla Suárez Navarro.
