American actress, singer, and songwriter Helen Rachel Slater (born December 15, 1963) portrayed the Kryptonian superheroine in the 1984 movie Supergirl. She subsequently appeared in various successful comedy-drama films including Ruthless People (1986), The Secret of My Success (1987), and City Slickers (1991). In addition to her film work, she engaged in television and stage performances, featuring as a guest on the series Smallville three times between 2007 and 2010.
