American actress and singer Laura Marie Marano, born on November 29, 1995, is known for her role as Ally Dawson in the Disney Channel series Austin & Ally. She was among the five initial students featured in Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?. Marano appeared in Without a Trace for three seasons and also had a role in Back to You, portraying the daughter of the lead characters in both shows. Additionally, she acted in the independent film A Sort of Homecoming. In 2015, she starred alongside Good Luck Charlie's Leigh-Allyn Baker in the Disney Channel Original Movie Bad Hair Day. That same year, Marano joined Big Machine Records and released her first single "Boombox" on March 11, 2016. At the end of that year, Big Machine decided to discontinue its pop artist roster. Subsequently, she signed with Warner Bros. Records in 2017 and intends to release her debut album through this label.
