Russian singer and songwriter Elena Sergeevna Katina, born on October 4, 1984, is recognized for her contributions to the music scene as part of the duo t.A.T.u. She commenced her professional journey at eight years old with a children's ensemble named Avenue, subsequently joining another group called Neposedi. In 1999, Ivan Shapovalov selected Lena Katina for his musical project t.A.T.u., alongside Julia Volkova. This partnership eventually established them as one of Russia's leading pop acts. The duo produced numerous popular tracks such as "All the Things She Said," "Not Gonna Get Us," and "All About Us." Their debut single "All The Things She Said" attained the top position in 19 countries, including the UK, Russia, and Australia.

In 2009, Katina transitioned into a solo career that led to a temporary pause for t.A.T.u. By 2011, both Katina and Volkova formally parted ways to focus on individual projects. That same year marked the release of Katina's first mainstream single "Never Forget," which achieved No. 1 on MTV Russia's Top 10 and was honored with MTV Russia’s Video Of The Year award in 2011. The song also topped the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and reached No. 1 in Greece.

In 2014, she launched her first studio album titled This Is Who I Am.
