Japanese professional tennis player Naomi Osaka (大坂 なおみ, Ōsaka Naomi, born October 16, 1997) is recognized as the reigning champion of both the US Open and Australian Open in women's singles. She attained the top position in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings in January 2019.

Osaka was born in Japan to a Haitian father and a Japanese mother but moved to the United States at the age of three. She gained attention at sixteen when she triumphed over former US Open winner Samantha Stosur during her WTA Tour debut at the 2014 Stanford Classic. In 2016, she made it to her first WTA final at the Pan Pacific Open held in Japan, which allowed her entry into the top 50 of WTA rankings. Osaka's second Grand Slam victory occurred in January 2019 with her win at Australian Open, making her also the first Asian player to reach world number one status.
