Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer Nelly Kim Furtado (born December 2, 1978) rose to prominence with her acclaimed debut album Whoa, Nelly! released in 2000. This project included two top ten singles: "I'm Like a Bird" and "Turn Off the Light," with the former earning her a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. In 2003, she launched her second album Folklore, featuring the lead single "Powerless (Say What You Want)." Her third studio effort Loose (2006) became her highest-selling album globally, achieving sales of 12 million copies. It produced four chart-topping singles: "Promiscuous," "Maneater," "Say It Right," and "All Good Things (Come to an End)." In 2009, she ventured into Spanish music with Mi Plan, which received a Latin Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Album. Furtado's fifth studio album The Spirit Indestructible was released in 2012.

Furtado has achieved over 40 million record sales worldwide, establishing herself as one of Canada's most accomplished artists.
