Former Arkansas state employee Paula Corbin Jones (born Paula Rosalee Corbin; September 17, 1966) initiated a lawsuit against U.S. President Bill Clinton, alleging sexual harassment. The legal proceedings involving Paula Jones were significant in leading to Clinton's impeachment and subsequent acquittal by the Senate on February 12, 1999. Perjury and obstruction of justice charges were filed against Clinton during this time. Ultimately, the court dismissed the harassment case brought by Jones prior to trial due to her inability to prove damages. Nevertheless, while the dismissal was under appeal, Clinton reached an out-of-court agreement to pay Jones $850,000.
