British television presenter Alesha Dixon, born on 7 October 1978 in Welwyn Garden City, England, is also recognized as a singer, dancer, rapper, and model. She gained popularity as part of the R&B/garage group Mis-Teeq. After the trio disbanded in 2005, Dixon shifted her focus to a solo music career and signed with Polydor Records. In 2006, she started work on her debut album titled Fired Up; however, following disappointing sales of her initial singles "Lipstick" and "Knockdown," she was released from her contract with Polydor.

In 2007, Dixon triumphed on Strictly Come Dancing. This exposure on television facilitated a successful return to music that included signing with Asylum Records under Warner Music Group. Her second studio album The Alesha Show was launched in 2008 and achieved platinum certification from BPI in the UK while producing four singles like "The Boy Does Nothing" and "Breathe Slow," the latter becoming her highest-charting track and earning her a Brit Award nomination.

In September 2009, Dixon took over as a judge for the seventh season of Strictly Come Dancing after Arlene Phillips stepped down. The decision to replace Phillips raised questions regarding Dixon's level of expertise in dance or talent evaluation. In 2010, she returned for the eighth season of Strictly Come Dancing while also releasing her third album The Entertainer. By January 2012, shortly after completing the ninth series along with three years as a judge on Strictly Come Dancing, Dixon resigned to join Britain's Got Talent as a judge.
