Bulgarian-Canadian journalist Alice Panikian (Bulgarian: Алис Паникян) was born on May 23, 1985, in Sofia, Bulgaria. She is a TV host, model, and titleholder of beauty pageants who achieved the Miss Universe Canada crown on March 21, 2006. Panikian completed her education at William Lyon Mackenzie Collegiate Institute in Toronto, graduating in 2003.

Standing at 6'0" (1.83 m), she holds the distinction of being the tallest major national titleholder in Canadian history. Her candidacy drew considerable media attention as one of the top contenders to follow then-current Miss Universe Natalie Glebova from Canada. Although no country has claimed consecutive titles until later accomplished by Dayana Mendoza and Stefanía Fernández from Venezuela in 2009, Panikian faced a challenging precedent despite opinions that she may have been an even more formidable candidate than her predecessor. Ultimately, Alice did not win Miss Universe 2006 (the title went to Zuleyka Rivera from Puerto Rico), but she secured a sixth-place finish and remains the last Canadian representative to place in the Miss Universe finals as of now.

In addition to her professional pursuits, Alice enjoys composing short stories; she also participates in volleyball and practices yoga.

Panikian's heritage includes Bulgarian and Armenian roots through her paternal grandfather, which is reflected in her surname. At age five, she immigrated to Canada with her parents. She studied English and Communications at York University while focusing on broadcast journalism and currently lives in Toronto, Ontario with ambitions toward becoming a journalist or television host.

Prior to earning the title of Miss Universe Canada, Alice represented Canada at the International Queen of Coffee pageant held on January 9, 2006, in Manizales, Colombia where she became its first-ever Canadian winner.

During the Miss Universe Canada Pageant event itself, she was awarded "Miss Photogenic" along with "Best in Swimsuit."

Panikian was scheduled to represent Canada at Miss International 2007 taking place in Tokyo but withdrew due to academic scheduling conflicts; Justine Stewart took over her position.
