German politician Frauke Petry (née Marquardt; born 1 June 1975) has served as the chair of the Alternative for Germany party since 4 July 2015.

Prior to her leadership role, she was one of three spokespersons for the party from 2013 until 2015, taking over as leader after an internal conflict with the founder Bernd Lucke. Petry is recognized for her critical stance on Islam and her advocacy for a ban on minarets, along with suggesting that German law enforcement should use firearms "only as a last option" to deter unauthorized border crossings.
