American actress Jill Clayburgh (April 30, 1944 – November 5, 2010) achieved acclaim for her performances. She was awarded Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for her work in the film An Unmarried Woman released in 1978. A second Academy Award nomination followed for her performance in Starting Over from 1979.

Clayburgh began her career on Broadway in 1968, featuring in the original productions of The Rothschilds (1970) and Pippin (1972). In addition, she appeared in the TV movie Hustling (1975), which led to an Emmy Award nomination. In 1984, she returned to stage with a revival of Design for Living.
