British singer, songwriter, and actress Joscelyn Eve Stoker, commonly known as Joss Stone, was born on 11 April 1987. She gained prominence in late 2003 with her debut album, The Soul Sessions, which received a nomination for the Mercury Prize in 2004. Her follow-up release, Mind Body & Soul, also achieved multi-platinum status and reached the top position on the UK Albums Chart for one week.
