Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi (菊地 凛子, Kikuchi Rinko), born Yuriko Kikuchi (菊地 百合子, Kikuchi Yuriko) on January 6, 1981, is recognized for her contributions to film. She became the first Japanese actress in half a century to receive an Academy Award nomination for her performance in Babel (2006). Other films that feature Kikuchi include Norwegian Wood (2010), which was part of the competitive lineup at the 67th Venice Film Festival, and Guillermo del Toro's science fiction action movie Pacific Rim (2013).
