Peruvian actress, singer, songwriter, and model Stephanie Cristina Cayo Sanguinetti (born April 8) has captivated audiences since childhood.

Born in Lima, Peru on April 8, 1988, Stephanie Cayo first attracted attention at the age of 9 with her performance in Travesuras del Corazón. She later took on leading roles in various television series and gained international visibility as the female lead in the globally aired Besos Robados. At a young age, she relocated to New York City independently to pursue studies in acting and dance at institutions such as The Actors Studio, The New York Film Academy, and The Broadway Dance Center. She reflects on this period as a crucial phase for personal growth and artistic exploration.

At 18 years old, she moved to Colombia after establishing herself as an actress through shows like El Secretario and The Hypochondriac. Her work garnered numerous accolades including the India Catalina award for Best Female Actress in a Television Show for her role in El Secretario in 2012.

Cayo began dancing and engaging with musical theater from a young age. In 2012, while wrapping up filming El Secretario, she secured the leading part of Roxie Hart in the renowned musical Chicago performed in Colombia before more than 1,500 attendees per night over three consecutive months.

Music Career

From an early age, she started composing songs and singing at her family's dance studio—an arts institution dedicated to nurturing talents through dance, music, and acting.

In 2011, Cayo launched her debut album titled Llegaré with Colombian producer Jose Gaviria.

Lead Roles: ‘El Secretario' and ‘The Hypochondriac’

In 2011, she took on the lead role of Antonia in the Colombian comedy series El Secretario where she portrayed an intelligent CEO overseeing a toilet paper company—the supervisor of The Secretary.

Her character resonated with viewers across Colombia and other South American countries. In recognition of her performance that year,she received the India Catalina award for best female actor in a TV series. Subsequently,in 2012,she played Macarena—a quirky hypochondriac misdiagnosed with terminal illness who believes she has only six months left to live.The comedic narrative follows her journey through this misunderstanding until it is revealed that she is healthy.Instead,she resolves to fake her own death but must navigate life's challenges thereafter.

An adaptation of this show will be executive produced by Emmy-winning Modern Family star Julie Bowen for Fox Network USA.
