Venezuelan volleyball athlete Verónica Maria Gómez Carabali (born 30 August 1985 - died 13 April 2012) competed for the Venezuela women's national volleyball team. She secured a silver medal during the 2002 Central American and Caribbean Games and also earned a silver medal at the Bolivarian Games in 2005. In Belgium, she was recognized as the Volleyball Player of the Year in 2007.
Gómez passed away at the age of 26 due to heart failure. At the time of her death, she was recuperating from Achilles tendon surgery in Venezuela.
