Russian singer and actress Yulia Olegovna Volkova, born on 20 February 1985, is often referred to as Julia. She gained prominence as a member of the Russian female group t.A.T.u., alongside Lena Katina. Formed in March 1999 in Moscow under the management of Ivan Shapovalov, the duo secured a record agreement with Universal Music Russia and subsequently joined Universal's sub-label Interscope Records in 2001.

t.A.T.u.'s debut single "All the Things She Said" achieved significant chart success across multiple countries such as Australia, Austria, Denmark, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The song also sparked controversy due to an onscreen kiss between Julia and Lena. The group produced three studio albums in English—among which their most commercially successful album remains 200 km/h in the Wrong Lane—alongside three albums recorded in Russian and four compilation releases. Additionally, they explored various projects including a film titled You and I released in 2011 and established a record label named T.A. Music based in Russia. In March 2011, however, t.A.T.u.'s management announced through a press release that the group had disbanded due to internal conflicts.

In June 2011, Julia embarked on her solo career by signing with Gala Records and launched her first single "All Because of You" in October of that year. This track was also made available as a Russian-language version entitled "Сдвину мир" (I'll Change the World). In July 2012 her management revealed plans for her global debut single called "Didn't Wanna Do It," which was officially released on August 21st of that year. Currently, she is working on producing her inaugural solo studio album.
