American actress and director Christine Ann Lahti, born on April 4, 1950, received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the 1984 film Swing Shift. Her filmography includes titles such as ...And Justice for All (1979), Housekeeping (1987), Running on Empty (1988), and Leaving Normal (1992). For her directorial debut with the short film Lieberman in Love in 1995, she was awarded the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film.

Lahti made her initial appearance on Broadway in 1980 as a substitute performer in Loose Ends and later starred in productions including Present Laughter (1982) and The Heidi Chronicles (1989). A candidate for eight Golden Globe Awards and six Emmy Awards, she won a Golden Globe for her role in the TV movie No Place Like Home in 1989. In addition to this, she secured both a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award in 1998 for portraying Kate Austin on CBS's Chicago Hope (1995–99). She returned to Broadway in 2009 to appear in God of Carnage.
