American actress and artist Mary Farrah Leni Fawcett (February 2, 1947 – June 25, 2009) gained widespread recognition in the entertainment industry. A nominee for four Emmy Awards and six Golden Globe Awards, Fawcett became internationally known after featuring in her famous red swimsuit poster, which achieved status as the highest-selling pin-up poster ever. She also portrayed private investigator Jill Munroe during the inaugural season of the TV series Charlie's Angels (1976–77). In 1996, she was listed as No. 26 on TV Guide's "50 Greatest TV Stars of All-Time".

Fawcett initiated her professional work in commercials and guest appearances on television starting in 1968. Throughout the 1970s, she took part in various television shows, including recurring roles on Harry O (1974–76) and The Six Million Dollar Man (1974–78), where she worked alongside then-husband Lee Majors. Her pivotal role came in 1976 when she was selected to play Jill Munroe in ABC’s Charlie's Angels alongside Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith. In 1997, while facing some criticism due to an erratic appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, she received acclaim for her acting alongside Robert Duvall in The Apostle. She maintained a presence on television with roles such as those seen repeatedly on Spin City (2001) and drama series The Guardian (2002–03), earning a third Emmy nomination for her work on the latter program. Her filmography includes titles like Love Is a Funny Thing (1969), Myra Breckinridge (1970), Logan's Run (1976), Sunburn (1979), Saturn 3 (1980), The Cannonball Run (1981), Extremities (1986), The Apostle (1997), and Dr. T & the Women (2000).

Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer during 2006; her struggle with this illness was documented posthumously by NBC’s Farrah's Story released in 2009. For her involvement as a producer of this documentary, she received another Emmy nomination after passing away.
