American professional wrestler Chyna, born Joan Marie Laurer on December 27, 1969, passed away around April 20, 2016. She was also known as a glamour model, adult film actress, and bodybuilder.

Chyna gained fame in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), now WWE, starting in 1997 when she was referred to as the "Ninth Wonder of the World"—the eighth being André the Giant. As a founding member of D-Generation X and recognized as the first female enforcer within the organization, she captured the WWF Intercontinental Championship twice—the only woman to achieve this—and held the WWF Women's Championship once. Additionally, she became the inaugural female participant in both Royal Rumble and King of the Ring events and was named number one contender for the WWF Championship. With victories over several notable male wrestlers such as Triple H, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, and Jeff Jarrett—who have all held world titles multiple times—Chyna is remembered by WWE for her formidable impact as a leading female athlete in wrestling history. Following her departure from WWF in 2001, she made sporadic appearances in wrestling promotions like New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) in 2002 and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) in 2011.

Beyond her wrestling career, Chyna featured in Playboy magazine on two occasions along with various TV shows and films. In 2005, she joined VH1's The Surreal Life cast which opened doors to other reality television projects on that network including The Surreal Life: Fame Games (2007) and Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew (2008). She is also recognized for her relationship with fellow wrestler Sean Waltman; together they produced an adult video titled 1 Night in China released commercially in 2004 that won a Best-Selling Title award at AVN Awards in 2006. Furthermore, Chyna appeared in five additional adult films including AVN's Best Celebrity Sex Tape of 2012 titled Backdoor to Chyna.
