Previously, she was the executive director of People Assisting the Homeless (PATH), a non-profit organization dedicated to combating homelessness across California. Hill is affiliated with the Democratic Party and secured her congressional seat by defeating incumbent Republican Steve Knight during the midterm elections in 2018.
