American retired film and television actress Kim Novak, born Marilyn Pauline Novak on February 13, 1933, gained prominence in the entertainment industry.

She started her professional work in 1954 after signing with Columbia Pictures. During her tenure there, she achieved success as an actress, featuring in numerous films including the critically regarded Picnic (1955). Her filmography also includes successful titles such as The Man with the Golden Arm (1955) and Pal Joey (1957). However, she is most widely recognized for her "dual role" portraying both Judy Barton and Madeleine Elster in Alfred Hitchcock's iconic thriller Vertigo (1958). Novak frequently appeared in box office popularity rankings and shared screen time with several leading actors of that period like James Stewart, William Holden, Frank Sinatra, Tyrone Power, and Kirk Douglas.

Despite early acclaim, her career began to decline in the early 1960s. After a series of underperforming films over several years, she stepped away from acting in 1966.
