American politician Sarah Palin (née Heath; born February 11, 1964) is also a commentator, author, and reality television figure. She held the position of the ninth Governor of Alaska from 2006 until her resignation in 2009. As the Republican nominee for Vice President during the 2008 election alongside presidential candidate John McCain from Arizona, she became the first Alaskan to appear on a national ticket of a major political party and was also the first Republican woman chosen as a vice presidential contender. Palin began her political journey by winning a seat on the Wasilla city council in 1992 and later assumed office as mayor in 1996. In 2003, after an unsuccessful attempt to become lieutenant governor, she received an appointment as chairperson of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, where she oversaw state oil and gas operations regarding safety and efficiency standards. She made history by being both the youngest individual elected Governor of Alaska and its first female governor.

Following her departure from governorship, Palin has supported various candidates within multiple election cycles while endorsing movements like Tea Party activism, notably backing Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016. Between 2010 and 2015, she contributed political analysis for Fox News Network. On April 3, 2014, she launched her own television series titled Amazing America with Sarah Palin on Sportsman Channel that continued airing until February 12, 2015. Additionally, on July 27, 2014, Palin initiated an online news platform known as the Sarah Palin Channel which ceased operations on July 4, 2015.
