Greek singer Vicky Leandros, born Vassiliki Papathanasiou (Greek: Βασιλική Παπαθανασίου) on 23 August 1949 (year of birth disputed), has had a significant international music career. She is the offspring of musician and composer Leandros Papathanasiou, who is also known by his stage names Leo Leandros and Mario Panas. In 1972, she rose to global prominence after securing victory in the Eurovision Song Contest with her entry "Après Toi," representing Luxembourg.

On 15 October 2006, Vassiliki von Ruffin was elected as a town councillor for Piraeus, Greece, under the Pasok party. Her responsibilities included overseeing cultural and international initiatives within the city. Additionally, she served as Deputy Mayor of Piraeus.

In June 2008, it was reported that Leandros chose to resign from her political role immediately, citing an underestimation of the demands associated with fulfilling her political duties alongside her music career.
