Former German speed skater Franziska Schenk, born on 13 March 1974, specialized in sprint events, particularly the 500 m and 1000 m distances. During the 1994 Winter Olympics held in Lillehammer, she achieved a bronze medal in the 500 m event at Vikingskipet in Hamar. Following this success, she secured bronze medals at the Sprint World Championships in both 1995 and 1996, ultimately winning the overall title in 1997 at Vikingskipet as well. In World Allround competitions, she earned three bronze medals—two in 1997 and one more in 1998. Throughout her professional career, she also claimed a total of eleven victories in World Cup events.
