American singer-songwriter Jewel Kilcher, born on May 23, 1974, is also a guitarist, producer, actress, author, and poet. With four Grammy nominations to her name, she has sold more than 30 million albums globally as of 2008.

Her first album, Pieces of You, which launched on February 28, 1995, ranks among the highest-selling debut albums ever and achieved a twelve-times platinum status. The initial single from this album, "Who Will Save Your Soul," reached number eleven on the Billboard Hot 100; two additional tracks—"You Were Meant for Me" and "Foolish Games"—attained the second spot on the Hot 100 and were featured in both Billboard's year-end singles charts for 1997 and 1998. Throughout her career, she has explored various music genres. Her inaugural country album titled Perfectly Clear was released under The Valory Music Co. in 2008. It debuted at number one on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and included three singles: "Stronger Woman," "I Do," and "'Til It Feels Like Cheating." In May 2009, Jewel launched her first independent project entitled Lullaby.

Jewel served as co-host and judge alongside Kara DioGuardi on the songwriting competition reality series Platinum Hit that premiered on May 29, 2011, airing on Bravo network. She possesses a vocal range classified as lyric soprano. On July 2, 2013, NBC revealed that Jewel would join as a judge for the fourth season of the a cappella contest The Sing-Off.
