English actress Joanne Froggatt (born 23 August 1980) is known for her work in theater, television, and film. Since 2010, she has portrayed lady's maid Anna Bates across all six seasons of the historical drama Downton Abbey. For this performance, she received three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and was awarded the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress on Television in 2014.

Froggatt's initial television roles include appearances in Coronation Street (1997–98), Bad Girls (1999), Dinnerladies (1999), and A Touch of Frost (2003). She later featured in television films such as Danielle Cable: Eye Witness (2003), See No Evil: The Moors Murders (2006), and Murder in the Outback (2007). In recognition of her leading performance in the 2010 film In Our Name, she won the British Independent Film Award for Most Promising Newcomer. Additionally, she portrayed Mary Ann Cotton in the ITV miniseries Dark Angel released in 2016.
