American singer, songwriter, and chef Kelis Rogers (born August 21, 1979), commonly referred to as Kelis, is recognized for her contributions to the music industry. She achieved moderate international attention with her debut album in 1999 titled Kaleidoscope but departed from Virgin Records following the release of Wanderland in 2001 due to its limited commercial performance and lack of a U.S. launch. Her third project, Tasty released in 2003, brought her greater commercial success and included the popular track "Milkshake," which remains one of her signature songs. The subsequent album Kelis Was Here (2006) led to further issues with record labels, prompting a break from music after its release; during this period, she studied at Le Cordon Bleu culinary school. In 2010, she launched Flesh Tone followed by Food in 2014 under Ninja Tune Records.
