English singer, songwriter, actress, and television personality Melanie Jayne Chisholm (born 12 January 1974), commonly referred to as Melanie C or Mel C, is recognized for being one of the five members of the Spice Girls, where she earned the nickname Sporty Spice. The group has achieved sales exceeding 100 million records globally. Chisholm initiated her solo journey in late 1998 through a collaboration with Canadian rock artist Bryan Adams on the track "When You're Gone." Her first solo album, Northern Star, debuted in 1999, reaching number four on the UK Albums Chart and receiving triple Platinum certification from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). This album yielded four top-five hits and one top twenty single; two of these tracks attained number-one status in the UK. Her second album, Reason, was launched in March 2003 and surpassed sales of 500,000 copies. It reached number five in the UK charts and included one top ten hit along with another within the top twenty as well as a double A-sided single that made it into the top thirty.

In 2004, Chisholm left Virgin Records to establish her own label called Red Girl Records. Her third studio effort Beautiful Intentions was released in April 2005; it peaked at number twenty-four in the UK and reached number fifteen in Germany. The project produced three singles: one reached number ten on the UK chart while another topped various European charts. In April 2007, she released her fourth studio album titled This Time which entered at fifty-seven on the UK Albums Chart. From this collection of five singles released from it, one secured a number-one position across certain European regions while another climbed into both top-thirty spots within the UK and into some European markets' top tens. In December of that year, Melanie C rejoined her fellow Spice Girls for an international tour alongside a greatest hits compilation release. She followed up with her fifth solo project The Sea on September 2nd ,2011 ,and introduced her inaugural EP The Night on May 13th ,2012 .Her sixth studio offering Stages came out on September10th ,2012 .

Since embarking upon her career as a solo artist since1999,she has sold over twelve million records.
