Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh Choo-kheng, PSM (YOH; born 6 August 1962) gained recognition in the action film scene of Hong Kong during the 1990s and is widely acknowledged for her performances in the James Bond movie Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) and the martial arts feature Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), along with various recent English-language productions. More recently, she appeared in CBS All-Access'/Netflix's Star Trek: Discovery (2017–2020), where she portrayed both the captain of the USS Shenzhou and an Emperor from an alternate universe. She is also slated to appear in a Star Trek spinoff focused on Section 31. In her early films from Hong Kong, she was credited as Michelle Khan.

Born in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia, she won the Miss Malaysia title at age 20 in 1983. Her rise to fame occurred in the early '90s following her roles in several action films from Hong Kong where she performed her own stunts, including Yes, Madam (1985), Police Story 3: Supercop (1992), and Holy Weapon (1993). Her performance in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon earned her a BAFTA Award nomination for Best Actress.

Yeoh has worked across numerous films in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Additional projects include Memoirs of a Geisha (2005), Kung Fu Panda 2 (2009), Reign of Assassins (2010), Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny (2016), and The Lady (2011), where she played Aung San Suu Kyi. In 2018, she featured prominently in Crazy Rich Asians—an American romantic comedy-drama film. Furthermore, she co-starred alongside others in Master Z: The Ip Man Legacy released that same year and Last Christmas which came out in 2019. Yeoh took on an original role as Jiang Nan within Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings film released in 2021.

The website Rotten Tomatoes recognized her as one of cinema's greatest action heroines back in 2008. Additionally, People magazine named her one of "50 Most Beautiful People" globally that year; later listing her among "35 All-Time Screen Beauties" by their standards published in 2009.
