Puerto Rican professional tennis player Monica Puig Marchán (born September 27, 1993) is an Olympic gold medalist. She has also achieved titles as a Central American and Caribbean champion as well as a Pan American silver medalist.

Puig's career includes one singles title on the WTA tour and six singles titles on the ITF circuit. On September 26, 2016, she attained her highest singles ranking at world number 27. In doubles, she reached a peak position of world number 210 on May 25, 2015. Puig secured her inaugural WTA tour title at the Internationaux de Strasbourg in May 2014.

During the 2016 Summer Olympics, Puig made history by becoming the first athlete to earn an Olympic gold medal for Puerto Rico and was the ninth overall medalist from that delegation. She also became the first female Latin American player to win in women's singles at this event. Notably, she overcame two top-5 ranked players en route to victory, including defeating Angelique Kerber, who was ranked second in the world during the final match. Puig remains distinguished as the only unseeded female competitor to claim gold since tennis returned to the Olympics in 1988.
