English actress Sally Cecilia Hawkins, born on April 27, 1976, has received various awards including a Golden Globe and the Silver Bear for Best Actress, alongside two nominations for Academy Awards.

Following her graduation from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Hawkins began her professional work in theatre with performances in plays such as Romeo and Juliet (as Juliet), Much Ado About Nothing, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. Her breakthrough role came in Mike Leigh's film All or Nothing released in 2002. She collaborated further with Leigh by taking a supporting part in Vera Drake (2004) before leading the cast of Happy-Go-Lucky (2008), which earned her multiple honors including the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and the Silver Bear for Best Actress.

Hawkins featured in two films directed by Woody Allen: Cassandra's Dream (2007) and Blue Jasmine (2013); she garnered an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the latter. She subsequently starred in major roles in Made in Dagenham (2010), Paddington (2014), Maudie (2016), Paddington 2 (2017), as well as appeared in Godzilla (2014) and Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019). For portraying a silent cleaning lady in The Shape of Water (2017), Hawkins gained acclaim and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.

In addition to her film work, Hawkins has participated in stage productions at London's Royal Court Theatre; she made her Broadway debut with Mrs. Warren's Profession in 2010. In 2012, she led Constellations at the Royal Court Theatre which later moved to Duke of York's Theatre on the West End. On television, she portrayed Zena Blake in BBC’s Tipping The Velvet (2002) and Sue Trinder in Fingersmith (2005). Additionally, she played Anne Elliot in ITV’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s Persuasion (2007).
