American actress Sela Ann Ward (born July 11, 1956) is also an author and producer, recognized for her work in television. In the 1980s, she took on supporting roles in films such as The Man Who Loved Women (1983), Rustlers Rhapsody (1985), Nothing in Common (1986), and Hello Again (1987). Her career advanced with her prominent performance as Teddy Reed in the NBC series Sisters (1991–96), which earned her first Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 1994.

Throughout her career, Ward has featured in various films including The Fugitive (1993), My Fellow Americans (1996), The Day After Tomorrow (2004), The Guardian (2006), The Stepfather (2009), and Gone Girl (2014). She was awarded a second Primetime Emmy Award along with a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Drama for her lead role as Lily Manning in the ABC series Once and Again (1999–2002). Additionally, she portrayed Stacy Warner on the Fox medical drama House and played Jo Danville on CBS’s procedural CSI: NY from 2010 to 2013. In 2016, she depicted the President of the United States in Independence Day: Resurgence and is set to appear in the Epix political comedy Graves.
