American professional tennis player Sloane Stephens, born on March 20, 1993, achieved victory at the 2017 US Open. She became the lowest-ranked female athlete (83rd) to claim this title and the first American woman outside of the Williams sisters to secure a Grand Slam since Jennifer Capriati in 2002.

Stephens finished as the runner-up at the 2018 French Open and has advanced to the semifinals of the 2013 Australian Open, along with reaching the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 2013. She has collected six WTA singles titles throughout her career and is currently positioned at a personal best World No. 4. In recognition of her return from foot surgery, Stephens received the WTA Comeback Player of the Year award in 2017.
