American professional tennis player Sofia Anna Kenin (commonly known as Sonya, SOH-nee-ə KEN-in; born November 14, 1998) has achieved a career-high ranking of No. 4 in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). She currently holds the title of champion at the Australian Open and is recognized as the youngest American to secure a Grand Slam women’s singles championship since Serena Williams in 2002. In 2019, she was acknowledged as the WTA Most Improved Player of the Year, making her the first American recipient of this honor since Serena Williams in 1999. Kenin has accumulated five WTA singles titles throughout her career.
