German singer-songwriter and actress Vanessa Anneliese Petruo, born on 23 October 1979, is also known by the name Vany. She gained international attention as part of the all-female pop group No Angels, formed during the talent show Popstars. The band achieved significant popularity across Central Europe with their record-setting debut single "Daylight in Your Eyes" and their album Elle'ments. From 2001 to 2003, No Angels sold over 5 million copies. Following their breakup in 2003, Petruo embarked on a solo career.

After releasing the moderately successful solo track "Drama Queen," Petruo took greater control over her artistic direction and music style. After a brief break from public performances, she incorporated blues, funk, and jazz influences into her first solo album Mama Lilla Would; although it received critical praise, it did not perform well commercially. Since then, her musical pursuits have primarily centered around her development as a jazz vocalist alongside new compositions shared widely on her MySpace page. In 2007, Petruo declined an offer to reunite with No Angels.

In addition to her music career, Petruo has become recognized for her contributions as a voice actress and appearances in various film and television projects such as the RTL series Wilde Engel (2005) and a supporting role in the movie Where Is Fred? released in 2006.
