German football referee Bibiana Steinhaus (born 24 March 1979 in Bad Lauterberg) is recognized as the first woman to officiate in German professional football. She began her career as a referee in 1999, overseeing matches in the Women's Bundesliga before advancing to the Regionalliga. In 2003, she served as the head referee for the Women's DFB-Pokal final of the 2002–03 season, featuring teams 1. FFC Frankfurt and FCR 2001 Duisburg. Her international assignments include officiating at the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, UEFA Women’s Euro 2009, and the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. On April 15, 2011, she was appointed as one of sixteen referees for the FIFA Women's World Cup where she managed two group stage games prior to being chosen for the final match between Japan and United States.

Steinhaus initially played for SV Bad Lauterberg before pursuing a career in refereeing like her father.

She was also designated to officiate at the women's football gold medal match during the London Olympics in 2012, again featuring Japan against United States.
