Portuguese television presenter Catarina Furtado (born August 25, 1972) is also an actress and serves as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNFPA. Born in Lisbon, she is the daughter of Joaquim Furtado, a journalist with RTP. Her career in television commenced in the early 1990s, during which she has been affiliated with both SIC and RTP networks, along with radio stations such as Rádio Comercial and RDP Antena 3. As a child, Catarina appeared briefly without speaking lines in Manoel de Oliveira's film Non, ou a Vã Glória de Mandar. She later featured in movies including Killing Time (an English film showcased at the Cannes Film Festival), Fatima (directed by Fabrizio Costa), Anjo da Guarda, and Pesadelo cor-de-rosa, among others. Her initial notable success came from her role as host on Top + aired on RTP—a Portuguese show that highlighted popular music videos alongside the national record chart.
