American professional tennis player Cori "Coco" Gauff (born March 13, 2004) is recognized as the youngest athlete within the top 100 rankings by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). She achieved her highest singles ranking of world No. 17 on January 17, 2022, and matched that position in doubles on November 8, 2021. Gauff captured her inaugural WTA singles title at the Linz Open in 2019 at just 15 years old, making her the youngest winner of a singles title on the WTA Tour since 2004. Alongside Caty McNally, she secured three WTA doubles titles. Gauff gained attention after defeating Venus Williams in the first round at Wimbledon in 2019.

Raised by parents with NCAA Division I backgrounds in basketball and track and field, Gauff explored various sports during her childhood before selecting tennis as her primary focus, drawing inspiration from the Williams sisters while favoring an individual sport.

Gauff experienced success as a junior player and received sponsorship to train at Patrick Mouratoglou's academy located in France. After claiming victory over McNally for the junior Grand Slam singles title at the French Open in 2018, she rose to become world No. 1 among juniors. Additionally, she won a junior Grand Slam doubles championship at the US Open that same year while partnering with McNally.

Gauff made her debut on the WTA Tour during March of 2019 at the Miami Open where she won her first match. She was granted a wildcard entry into qualifying rounds for Wimbledon Championships later that year where she became history's youngest competitor to qualify for its main draw. Advancing to round four saw all of her matches being among those most viewed each day during initial television broadcasts across America that week; further into summer—still aged only fifteen—she reached round three of this year's US Open.
