American columnist Meghan McCain (born October 23, 1984) is an author, former contributor for Fox News, and current co-host of The View. She is the child of John McCain, a former U.S. senator and presidential candidate in 2008, and Cindy McCain. In 2007, McCain gained her own media presence through her blog, McCain Blogette, where she shared insights from the campaign trail along with commentary on fashion, music, and pop culture. In 2009, she became a contributing writer at The Daily Beast and started appearing as a contributor on MSNBC in 2011. In 2013, she began hosting on the Pivot channel’s new programming lineup and later took on the co-host position for TakePart Live until its cancellation in late 2014. In July 2015, McCain joined Fox News as a contributor and was appointed regular co-host of Outnumbered starting November 14, 2016; however, she departed from both the program and network in September 2017. On October 9 of that year, she was announced as a co-host for The View while also serving as a political analyst for ABC News with appearances on shows like Good Morning America and This Week.
